...'Exploring
the Frontiers of Prehistory'...
|
The objectives
of ancient-wisdom have changed
little since the site began in 2005. They are as follows:
-
A clarification of certain apparent 'mysteries'
of the past.
-
Bridging the gap between popular literature and
scientific discovery.
-
Forming a better resolution of the events of
prehistory.
When ancient-wisdom was started, it was driven by
my own personal interest in the field of prehistory. In particular, the clarification
of certain apparent 'ancient mysteries' being
propagated in popular literature. From the outset, it became apparent how little
is actually know about the events of prehistory, being a relatively new field in
itself, and although we now have numerous museums filled with ancient artefacts,
they often lack any cohesive context in order to relate them to the events that surrounded them.
It has always been
my aim to make this an interactive site so please feel free to get involved
with your own Ideas, contributions and criticisms..!
| Who's
behind ancient-wisdom ? |
The content of
the ancient-wisdom pages is written and edited by
myself, Alex Whitaker (B.Sc Hons).
During my ten years in Portugal, a country with a rich and
relatively undiscovered prehistory, my growing passion for things prehistoric finally
spilled over uncontrollably in the shape of this website...
Whilst I have not received any classic training in prehistory, I
respect the value
of empirical research and have adhered to academic standards with the
information used on the site including full referencing where available.
At the
same time as recording my own personal journey into the world of prehistory, I have
seen the volume of traffic to the site continue to rise each month -
a pattern it has followed since its conception. This unexpected fact inspired me to continue improving both the look and the depth of content in a more
dedicated and professional manner.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I
have.
Alex Whitaker (Nov. 2010).
With invaluable programming assistance from Adrian Evans (aka 'The Flying Beard').

The ancient-wisdom
website has been growing steadily in both traffic and content since it began in
2005. One of the main priorities of the website, especially in light of its
continued growth into a mainstream online referencing tool, is to maintain FREE
access to the whole site at all times.
