About Us.
The objectives have changed
little since the site began in 2005. They are essentially as follows:
-
A clarification of certain apparent 'mysteries'
of the past.
-
Bridging the gap between popular literature and
scientific discovery.
-
Forming a better resolution of the events of
prehistory.
Statement:
When ancient-wisdom was started, it was driven by
my personal interest in the field of prehistory, in particular, the clarification
of certain apparent 'ancient mysteries' being
propagated in popular literature. From the outset, it became apparent how little
is actually know about the events of prehistory, it being a relatively new field in
itself, and although we now have numerous museums filled with ancient artefacts,
they often lack an understanding of the events that surrounded them.
The content of
the ancient-wisdom.co.uk pages is written and edited by
myself, Alex Whitaker (B.Sc Hons).
Having been
fortunate enough to visit many of the greatest prehistoric monuments over the
last few years, I now find myself living in Portugal, a country with a rich and
diverse megalithic tradition. My growing passion for things prehistoric finally
spilled over in the shape of this website...
Although I am
have never received any classical training in prehistory, I understand the value
of empirical research, and have adhered to academic standards with the
information used on the site, including full referencing where available. At the
same time as recording my own personal journey into prehistory, I have
seen the volume of traffic to the site continuing to rise each month -
a pattern it has followed since its conception. This unexpected fact has
inspired me to improve both the look and the depth of content in a more
dedicated and professional manner. I hope you enjoy it.
With invaluable programming assistance from Adrian Evans (aka 'The Flying Beard').
The website is currently undergoing a
major
reconstruction process.
As such, and for the next few months, some
pages will appear in the new style, and others in the old.
I apologise in advance for any
irregularities or inconvenience you might experiencing at this
time. Pages are being upgraded on a priority basis. Please feel free to let me
know if you notice any serious glitches.
